GAME FISHING
Why fish Coffs Coast? 
The Continental Shelf sits just 12 nautical miles off the Coffs Coast, less than half the distance of other well known ports. This equates to less time spent travelling from port to the deeper water and more time in the productive game fishing grounds. 
 
Marlin are plentiful off the Coffs Coast all year round, particularly Striped, while Black and Blue Marlin follow the warmer currents that flow down the coast throughout the year. 
 
Sharks, Tuna, and Mackerel are also targeted depending upon your choice of fishing. 
 
As its your charter, we are pleased to chase whatever species and use the full range of techniques to deliver you a successful day of fishing.
 
Tag & Release Policy 
Our primary focus however is tag and release of game species, so that you and other anglers can continue to enjoy the sport into the future. 

Tackle 
You will have the very best tackle available with new 60kg Shimano T-Curve rods & Tiagra reels, 37kg custom rods & Shimano Tiagra reels and 37kg Shimano T-Curve Stand-up rods and 24kg Tiagra Wide reels. In addition we have a comprehensive range of lures at your disposal. 
 
Number of Anglers
Game fishing charters have a preferred 4 anglers with a maximum of 5. We will "hot boat", taking individual anglers as with reef fishing charters, provided we have a minimum of 3 anglers for each charter.

SPORT & REEF FISHING
The Coffs Coast is blessed with a number of excellent reefs, FADs and warm flowing currents that deliver quality fishing all year. Sports fish such as Kingfish, Mahi Mahi and smaller Mackerel and Tuna are plentiful in season, while reef fish such as Snapper are always popular targets.
 
Tackle 
We have a range of Shimano TLD reels with custom overhead rods, Abu Garcia combination overhead reels & matched rods and Mitchell spinning reels matched with Abu Garcia rods. All tackle, lures and bait are supplied.
 
Number of Anglers
We prefer a maximum of 5 anglers on board “Obsession” the 12m game boat. We can also carry other guests, such as family who may not necessarily want to fish, but who would otherwise enjoy the day on the water

WHALE WATCHING
The Coffs Coast is almost a secret when it comes to whale watching. Interestingly though, it is arguably one of the best locations in Australia for sighting the magnificent Humpback whale while on migration. 
 
Our whale watching season is longer than in Hervey Bay spanning from early June through to late November as we first track the north bound migration to warmer breeding waters and then the south bound migration as the whales head to the colder Antarctic waters to feed and recuperate before make the long trek again next year. 
 
The close proximity of the Continental Shelf to the mainland makes the Coffs Harbour port an ideal location to base whale watching tours. In the main, the Humpback whales travel along the coastline land side of the Continental Shelf and in so doing they effectively pass through a "gateway" only 12 nautical miles wide just off Coffs Harbour. 
 
This ensures that, weather permitting, tours from Coffs Harbour have an extremely high success rate in sighting the whales - in excess of 95% of trips. 
 
With whales sighted as close as the harbour entrance (we have the photos!), possibly the cheapest trips on the eastern seaboard of Australia and a location close to Sydney and Brisbane why would you chose anywhere else to experience the splendour of whale watching? 
 
To maximise the prospect of our guests sighting whales, Sea Experience Charters combines with flight charter operators to provide daily aerial surveys of the ocean off the Coffs Coast to pinpoint the location of whales and the direction they are travelling. 
 
Number of Passengers 
Luxury trips aboard "Obsession" undertakes one luxury whale watching trip per day for maximum of only 10 passengers, which includes extended time with the whales and a fully catered gourmet lunch whilst anchored in the calm waters of the harbour, before returning to the marina.

Refreshments include morning tea of home-made muffins and cakes.
